Resistors

Resistors are about the easiest product in our line up here at Farnsworth Electronics, Inc. We've got

so many drawers full of resistors that we don't even bother adding them to our annual inventory

count anymore.

Here's what you need to know about resistors:

1) Wattage (1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, 100, 200, 225, 500 watt, and more)

2) Ohms (wide range from 0.010 to 22meg and more)

3) Tolerance (1%, 2%, 5%, and 10%) Tolerance the range in variation of the ohms. For instance,

if you have a resistor that is 100 ohms and it's 10% tolerance, this means it is + or - 10% of 100 ohms,

therefore your resistor is actually 90 to 110 ohms.

4) Composition (Carbon, Flame Proof, Wire wound, Surface Mount, etc.)

Calculate Resistor Values from Color Codes (or look below)

Color Codes:

Example: red, red, orange, silver  = 22,000 ohms 10% tolerance

black band = 0 brown band = 1 red band = 2 orange band = 3
yellow band = 4 green band = 5 blue band = 6 violet (purple) band = 7
gray band = 8 white band = 9 gold band = 5%  silver band = 10%

And don't forget we also carry resistor clips and brackets.

Here's the most popular NTE resistors that we stock. Adobe Required.

We also carry Ohmite, Clarostat, and others.
