Great Tips

Removing Adhesive: The key to removing rubber adhesive is to let the solvent do the work for you.

The longer you let it soak in, the easier it is to remove the adhesive. Five to ten minutes is usually enough

time. Always test solvents on a small, inconspicuous area to make sure they won't damage the surface. If the adhesive is on an absorbent surface, you may want to avoid oil or petroleum-based solvents.
For general adhesive removal, we recommend De-Solv-It, Goo-Gone, WD-40 and Goof-Off.
De-Solv-It and Goo-Gone are non-toxic, environmentally-safe, citrus-based cleaners. They do not contain

harmful chemicals and are safe to use on most surfaces. Both products are available at major discount stores

and hardware and home centers. For more information, contact De-Solv-It at 1-800-887-7771 and Goo-Gone

at 1-800-321-6330.
Goof-Off, a xylene-based solvent, is good for removing adhesives from durable surfaces. It's available at major discount stores and hardware and home centers, or you can contact the company at 1-800-253-3957.
A "home remedy" we recommend is WD-40. The petroleum-based lubricant is excellent for removing adhesives. Rubbing alcohol also works for removing light adhesives, but evaporates quickly. Remember to test these

products before applying on a large scale.

Cutting Duck Tape: It's easier to rip Duck Tape by hand than to cut it with scissors. If you try to cut Duck

Tape, it will gum up and stick to itself, or stick to the scissors. Rubbing alcohol will remove adhesive from the blades.

Storing Duck Tape: Store Duck Tape in a dry, temperate environment to keep the adhesive pliable. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, extreme heat and/or water may cause the adhesive to dry out or fuse to the layer

of tape beneath, making it nearly impossible to rip off a full strip of tape.
When stacking rolls of Duck Tape, place a sheet of waxed paper between the rolls to prevent sticking.

Preparing the surface: Make sure you have a clean, dry surface before applying Duck Tape. If the surface is dusty, dirty or oily, your temporary repair may not hold very long! A splash of rubbing alcohol will remove grime

and residue left from cleaners and other solvents.

Application temperature: Duck Tape works best when it's not cold. If the surface temperature is below

40 degrees Fahrenheit, the adhesive will harden and possibly freeze before adhesion takes place.

What are the different grades of Duck Tape? Grades are based on the thickness of the tape and the

durability of the cotton fabric backing.

Good: Utility, Better: All-Purpose, Best: Professional, Superior: Industrial.

Removing Duck Tape: Run a hair dryer or heat gun over the tape backing to warm and soften the adhesive.

After a minute or two, you can peel the tape away. Saturate the rubber adhesive with solvent and let it soak

in for 5 to 10 minutes. Place a rag or towel over your index finger and rub the adhesive in a circular motion

until it comes off.
