What is a Battery? Battery is a portable energy source that is made up of three basic components: an Anode, a Cathode, and an Electrolyte. The Anode is the negative portion,

How long will a battery last? The life of a battery depends on the type and size of your battery, the power drain of the unit the battery is in, and how often and how long the battery is used.

What do we recommend? Farnsworth Electronics, Inc. recommends alkaline batteries because they have the longest service life of any other for high drain devices. So, you ask what's the difference between alkaline, heavy duty, lithium, rechargeable, etc? Well, we have the answers for you. Alkaline: Primary disposable, non-rechargeable, for devices with a high power drain such as a boom box. Heavy Duty: ideal for moderate to low drain devices such as flashlights. General Purpose: for devices which are used infrequently and have low power drains. Lithium: for watches, calculators, computers and other memory backup systems. Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cad): these are rechargeable and come in AA, AAA, C, D, and 9 volt sizes. You'll need to have a charger in order to use these over and over again.
